Tmobile : The Speed 42 mbps and 4G Devices

Las Vegas, New York and Orlando are the first three markets to experience T-Mobile’s network at the much-anticipated theoretical peak speed of 42 mbps.

Already serving customers across the U.S. with 21 mbps service on America’s Largest 4G Network*, T-Mobile had previously announced that it wants to double that blazing speed for at least two dozen markets and 140 million people this year. Now devices like the Galaxy S 4G will be more impressive in these three cities.

What’s 4G without a 4G device?
The T-Mobile 4G Mobile Hotspot and three new 4G laptop sticks(including T-Mobile’s first 42 mbps device) extends T-Mobile’s industry-leading 4G portfolio further. These new mobile broadband products were all announced late Monday night at the CTIA wireless trade show.

The T-Mobile 4G Mobile Hotspot – a compact device resembling a clamshell phone - serves as a de-facto internet connection for up to five Wi-Fi enabled devices, all connected through T-Mobile’s 4G network. Customers can connect music players, gaming consoles, tablets, laptops, cameras and eReaders and other devices.

Imagine this:
A family sedan driving to grandma’s house. Mom downloads and reads book on a Dell Streak 7. Teenage daughter uploads pictures (of older brother drooling on pillow) to Facebook. Younger brother plays PSP online against friends. All the while, Dad listens (and sings) to Slacker Radio through MP3 player. All at once, on the road, through Wi-Fi from the T-Mobile 4G Mobile Hotspot.

Or how about this:
A restaurant, a few hours before big sales presentation. Dan gets urgent email on phone. Wall Street Journal just broke huge story, entirely changing presentation. Despite no access to Wi-Fi, sales team fires up laptops, connects to America’s Largest 4G Network, makes necessary changes, emails local print shop. Crisis averted, thanks to Mobile Hotspot.

Manufactured by ZTE, the sleek, compact device weighs 2.64 ounces and fits in the palm of a hand. The 21 mbps-capable hotspot features an OLED display to show signal strength, number of connected users, battery level and network connection type. It also includes an SD card slot for up to 32 GB of expandable memory.

Speed without wires
T-Mobile is the first carrier to offer customers an entirely 4G laptop stick lineup from prepaid to premium devices. Available later this spring, the T-Mobile Rocket 3.0 manufactured by ZTE will be the first 42 mbps capable 4G product on T-Mobile’s new 42 mbps service in select markets.
T-Mobile also plans to deliver two other 4G laptop sticks capable of delivering peak download speed of 21 mbps, including the T-Mobile Jet 2.0, going on sale March 23, and the prepaid T-Mobile Rocket 4G.

A plan to enjoy all that speed
To support that increase in data use, T-Mobile is offering an overage-free postpaid 10 GB mobile broadband service plan for $84.99 per month. The new plan complements T-Mobile’s existing post- and prepaid 200 MB and 5 GB mobile broadband service options. Existing T-Mobile voice customers receive a 20% discount on all mobile broadband plans, including the new 10 GB plan.

Availability
The T-Mobile Jet 2.0 will be available March 23. The T-Mobile 4G Mobile Hotspot, T-Mobile Rocket 3.0 and prepaid T-Mobile Rocket 4G will be available later this Spring.
